Body temperature measurement reinvented – secure, intuitive, fast and EUGDPR compliant
Idar-Oberstein, 06.04.2020 +++ Kentix GmbH, manufacturer of professional smart building security solutions for the physical security of business-critical infrastructures, is expanding its product range: With the IoT based Kentix SmartXcan, Kentix makes an innovative, effective and efficient contribution to the global COVID 19 crisis. The new Kentix SmartXcan provides reliable body temperature measurement for healthcare, public institutions, business and leisure facilities, among others. The handling is fast, intuitive and self-explanatory, the results reliable and accurate. The measurement is automated and contactless – thus safe for the user. A EUGDPR-compliant operation is possible due to self measurement. The Kentix SmartXcan is used at access points to crowded areas and can be ideally combined with physical access solutions depending on the application. In the short term, the spread of viral diseases can be effectively contained at a manageable system cost of € 695 (plus VAT) and easy installation. In the medium term, the restoration of social contacts can be made possible and in the long term, the confidence of the population in public safety can be restored.
Detection of infected persons is crucial
Viral diseases are one of the greatest and also future dangers for the health care system and economic structures, keeping them in suspense in the long term and confronting them with completely new challenges. In order to effectively reduce the risk of viral diseases (COVID-19, influenza, etc.) spreading in public areas in the long term and at the same time to better predict emerging geo-hotspots, early identification of infected persons is necessary. The Kentix SmartXcan can make a very good contribution here, which, in addition to a self-responsible measurement, automatically denies persons with critical body temperatures access to crowds of people.
Fever measurement secure, intuitive and fast
With the current COVID-19 pandemic and other viral infections and bacterial diseases, fever is by far the most frequent initial diagnosis (according to the WHO Report 2/2020: 87.9% for COVID-19). Although it is a nonobligatory and unspecific symptom, fever is still considered a very useful screening tool. It is crucial for the effectiveness of a fever measurement in public places that the measurement is safe and accurate, intuitive and fast, and also provides the best results without violating the EUGDPR. The Kentix SmartXcan meets all these important requirements. Thanks to the automated, contactless fever measurement via thermal imaging sensors, there is no contact contamination, among other things. More than 1,000 measured values as well as deep learning AI algorithms for self-optimizing measured value analysis ensure clinically tested, reliable results with high protection against manipulation. The fully automated stand-alone solution collects no personal data and allows EUGDPR compliant operation. Thanks to the intelligent sensor technology, the user guidance is self-explanatory and invites people to take independent measurements In addition to manual access control by gatekeepers, security and police, Kentix’s SmartXcan also allows direct control of relays to automatically open or keep doors, turnstiles, locks or barriers open or closed. With a throughput of up to 700 people per hour, the new solution can also be used to control larger crowds of people – optionally with several Kentix SmartXcan systems that are operated in parallel.
Possible applications even beyond COVID-19
The Kentix SmartXcan supports nursing staff not only in times of crisis by an automated, contactless fever measurement and admission control at central entrances. The new technology thus protects busy staff from infections and at the same time conserves scarce resources such as protective clothing and disinfectants In long-term care facilities, the SmartXcan serves to protect residents and staff by controlling the entry of non-infected personnel or suppliers. In addition, companies also benefit from the possibility of offering EUGDPR-compliant body temperature measurements. Employees can scan themselves to see if they have a possible fever and consult a doctor rather than going to the workplace and infecting colleagues. In the aftermath of an epidemic, using the Kentix SmartXcan in schools, kindergarten, public transportation, sports and other recreational facilities can help people return to a normal life after a period of restricted access. Optionally, the IoT-based device provides all measurements in real-time AI-based analysis databases to reliably identify new potential geo-hotspots and initiate immediate intervention measures.
