SmartPDU functions at a glance
From Sensor to Action
The Kentix SmartPDU combines precise energy and residual current monitoring directly in the rack with automated alarm and escalation chains (“from sensor to action”)—delivering not just measurements, but real actionable intelligence for early risk detection and outage prevention that conventional PDUs cannot provide.
Fully Integrated Rack Monitoring
Monitors temperature, humidity, dew point, and vibration. Fire protection is provided directly in the rack through integrated early fire detection. Additional system components such as electric rack handles can also be connected.
Well Protected
Alarm-monitored professional circuit breakers with C-trip characteristics are suitable for higher inrush currents in HCI or AI applications and include protection against incorrect operation. Optionally, SmartPDUs are available with Type 3 surge protection.
Secure & Configurable Connections
Electrical connections that can loosen pose a serious risk in server operations.
SmartPDUs use IEC-Lock connectors (IEC 60320) and optional locking systems that prevent cables from being unplugged unintentionally.
Simple System Management
Thanks to the integrated KentixONE software, SmartPDUs can be easily managed on the network. Update deployment, mass editing, or LDAP account integration—all operations are handled via the central KentixONE web GUI.
Certified Power Measurement
MID-certified energy measurement monitors all key electrical parameters per phase. The integrated RCM residual current measurement (Type B) complies with IEC 60664-1. In addition, external meters can be integrated via Modbus TCP.
Swiveling Connector Simplifies Installation
Cable entry swivels by ±45° for flexible adaptation to installation conditions. It simplifies cable routing and minimizes the bending radius of the connection cable—ideal for use in raised floors and overhead power supply scenarios.
Integrated Power Quality Analysis
The Kentix SmartPDU not only monitors current, voltage, and power, but also analyzes power quality in real time thanks to integrated THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measurement. This allows data center operators to detect disturbances and distortions in the power grid early—before they lead to outages.
True Rack Redundancy – Through A/B Power Balancing
Redundancy is only truly effective when power from PDU A and PDU B is evenly distributed within the rack. Continuous A/B power balancing immediately reveals wiring errors and unbalanced loads, ensuring that each power feed can safely handle the full rack load in the event of a failure.
Direct connection for cabinet lock
The “DoorLock-RA” rack handle is a robust metal-plastic lever handle that can be connected directly to the SmartPDU. It comes standard with a transponder reader (MIFARE® DESFire®), a PIN pad, and a multicolor LED.
